Poor catching technique is the number one cause of dropped balls. Coaching theory for all large ball sports promote the practice of using fingertips rather than palms to secure control of the ball. This is because balls bounce off the palm but fingers allow you to feel the ball and to exert the appropriate pressure required to catch it.
Worn at training, Catchits promote fingertip ball control by preventing palm contact from occurring. Wearing Catchits during warm up drills such as passing, catching and marking will cause mishandling if fingertip contact is not maintained. These minor fumbles focus the mind on better technique until fingertip control becomes second nature. Once removed, the neurological pathways established by wearing Catchits will transfer to game situations. Catchits are both educational for junior players wanting to learn correct catching technique and remedial for senior players wanting to eradicate bad habits.
