Items of clothing for sports are often quite specific, and are so for a reason ' they will either serve to aid or protect a sportsperson as they play. Rugby boots are no exception. Loads of styles of boots are available today, as sportswear manufacturers vie for sales. Modern advances in sports shoe materials and design mean that the majority of these rugby boots are perfectly suited to their task, although some are more efficient than others in certain circumstances (for example wet conditions). Most rugby players are aware that boots in similar price ranges are likely to perform equally, though some have preferred brands or designs. When choosing boots produced by a reputable sportswear brand, most experienced rugby players know whether they want leather or specific ankle support. The appearance of the shoe will be the deciding factor when choosing between two similar designs, and manufacturers are aware of this. They are continually trying to produce better looking, more modern boots, whilst maximising performance. As rugby is played in teams which tend to have a set colour uniform, the majority of boots are quite plain so that they compliment as many uniforms as possible. They are often mainly black with simple decorations, which are often in white. Of course this is not always the case, bright colours are sometimes used to make a boot stand out or be deemed more attractive, blue and red are both popular colours for detailing.
